Action News Jax spoke with neighbors like Ray Hummel who said he didn’t know the man well, but would see him often.

“I never talked to him, but I saw him early this morning and yesterday sitting in the front yard,” he said.

CCSO said they have 39-year-old Melissa Gholson in custody. According to arrest information on the sheriff’s office’s website, she was arrested on a second-degree murder charge not premeditated.

According to Gholson’s arrest report, the man killed is identified as 36-year-old David Christopher Gholson. Clay County records show the two were married.

Clay County property records show the house belong to a Melissa Lee Rothweiler as the owner of the house. Action News Jax showed a Facebook page of a woman with the name of Melissa Rothweiler Gholson to several neighbors, all of them said it was her. Neighbors told Action News Jax the two were together and never would’ve suspected anything like this.

“Never heard no arguments, nothing like that. I’ve seen them both out there, like they got along together,” Hummel said.

“It makes you wonder what this world has come to. This is just right down the street,” he said. “This just don’t happen around here.”

The sheriff’s office said they’ll provide more information when it’s available.
