Columbia County Sheriff's Office helps catch escaped inmate

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — 6:44 P.M. UPDATE: The Columbia County Sheriff's Office announced that the prisoner was caught.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Columbia County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday afternoon that it is assisting another county in looking for an escaped prisoner.

CCSO said there is a large amount of law enforcement on I-10 near mile marker 297 and I-75.

The prisoner fled from the Florida Highway Patrol, running into the woods on the south side of I-10, according to CCSO.

The prisoner, Jame E. Bolding, 49, escpaed from Apalachee West in Sneads around 12:50 p.m. Thursday in Jackson County, according to a post from CCSO.

The Sneads Police Department said that Bolden stole a city work vehicle while on a work release detail.

The vehicle is a white 2004 Ford Ranger with the town of Sneads devals on the doors.

Bolding was with a city employee at the Wastewater Treatment Facility in Sneads when employee notified the department that he realized that the vehicle and inmate were gone, according to the police department.

According to the police department, the Department of Florida Corrections, Jackson County Sheriff's, Gadsden County Sheriff's, Chattahoochee Police, Blountstown Police, Florida department of Transportation, FHP, the US Marshalls and other local law enforcement are searching for Bolding.

Law enforcement is asking anyone with information about the escaped prisoner to call your local law enforcement agency of the Florida Department of Corrections at 850-922-6867.
