Columbia County police say man was killed in Sunday shooting at Chevron gas station

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — Columbia County Sheriff’s Office provided updates on a Sunday shooting that killed a man.

According to detectives, on Sunday around 1 p.m., officers responded to the Chevron gas station at U.S. 441 North and I-10. Upon arrival, they located 47-year-old Kendrick Jerry of Lake City lying near the front door with a gunshot wound.

Deputies and EMTs rendered aid at the scene, but Jerry was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation revealed that before the shooting, Jerry and another man got into an argument in the parking lot. Detectives believe they have identified all parties involved in the shooting, but they are still working through their investigation.

“It is tragic to lose any member of our community,” Sheriff Mark Hunter said in a statement. “We will work diligently to verify all facts in this case and provide answers to the Jerry family.”
