JESUP, Ga. — A fire destroyed several businesses in the Historic District of downtown Jesup Tuesday morning.
It is not known what caused the fire, and fire investigators are still investigating, according to WTOC.
The fire destroyed nine spaces at the Whaley Shopping Center, which included seven businesses and two empty spaces.
The Fair Haven Thrift Store, which supports the Battered Women's Shelter, is now accepting clothing, household items and furniture donations. The business is at 256 South Brunswick St.
In addition, the Downtown Development Authority is collecting monetary donations. Checks can be made out to the DDA Fire Fund at any SunTrust Bank, or you can take your check to the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce at 124 NW Broad St. in Jesup.
