County Road 210 overpass opens in St. Johns County

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A daily drive down County Road 210 just got a lot easier.

The Florida Department of Transportation opened a new 210 overpass, which now connects the Nocatee area to Interstate 95.

"The first thing my husband someone was try out the new flyover, which connects directly to I-95 and we are so excited," said Sswarna Slatha.

Before the overpass opened, drivers coming from Nocatee would have to take a longer route filled with a series of turns.

"It gets congested down the one road and takes a couple of miles but now I'm sure I'll love the new one," said Latha.

Action News decided to take a ride down the old detoured road.We found to get to Interstate 95, it took seven minutes and 36 seconds.

Then we took a drive on the new route that includes the overpass. Our time to reach I-95 was cut down to about four minutes.

FDOT said that savings time could increase during rush hour.

"Probably about five to 10 minutes savings as far as time," said FDOT spokeswoman Gina Busscher.

FDOT said the road will also be more safe for drivers now that they don't have to go through a main intersection.

Slatha said she's excited to try out the road again Wednesday.
