Day 2 of Colley double murder penalty phase

On Wednesday, a jury should begin deliberating it's recommendation of sentence for James Colley.

Colley is convicted in the double murders of his estranged wife Amanda and her friend Lindy Dobbins.

On Day Two of the penalty phase of the trial, jurors heard conflicting testimony about Colley's mental state and drug use at the time of the killings.

Less than two hours before Colley killed the two women, he appeared in a St. Johns County courtroom for a violation of an injunction filed by his estranged wife.

The judge who saw Colley testify said he did not seem impaired.

Colley’s sister Crystal Colley Wright  took the stand and, at times, was tearful as she talked about her brother being a father.

“He’s been there every day with his children. From the moment he woke up till the moment he went to bed he spent with his children,” she said.
