Coronavirus: Jacksonville families ready to receive vaccine as Pfizer vaccine is close to emergency use authorization

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Pfizer vaccine is one step closer to becoming authorized for emergency use.

Mary Daniel, whose husband is in an area senior living facility, said she has already signed him up to receive the vaccine.

He will be among the first in the state to receive the likely-to-be-approved vaccine.

In a video message on Thursday, Gov. Ron DeSantis said, “Our top priority is residents of long-term care facilities.”

He went on to say the state will be sending “strike teams” to long-term care facilities for COVID-19 vaccines.
