JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Many people have emailed and called Action News Jax concerned about not getting a call back after leaving messages on the call line to make a vaccine appointment at Regency Mall.
One viewer wrote: “How long does it take for them to call you for an appointment? I have called three times since Monday. no one has answered. I’m 72 and need the vaccine.”
And they’re not alone.
Action News Jax spoke with another viewer named Scott Meadows who said he’s been trying since Saturday to get his mother an appointment.
“Every day calling and leaving a message and entering my mother’s information in and I have not heard anything back from anyone,” said Meadows.
Action News Jax reached out to the state and got a reply via the Florida Association of Public Information Officers’ Twitter, which stated “As appointments open, people are called. There is a queue they are put in.”
But Meadows, like many others, is frustrated.
“It would be nice if somebody would just sit down and find out what the answer is and give it to people straight,” said Meadows.
Right now, it’s unclear how long the queue is or when people on that list will get a call back.
The state explained calling the line multiple times won’t get you an appointment any sooner.
In the meantime, Meadows’ parents will have to wait.
“They feel trapped of course depression and other things sit in on people especially when you’re older. And you basically have your mobility taken away from you through no choice of your own — it’s even worse,” Meadows said.
