DCPS considers extending hybrid model

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The hybrid model will phase to full-time in-person learning on September 14. Dr. Diana Greene said the district is considering extending that deadline.

Currently, hybrid classes are only offered to secondary school students. Sixth graders learn in-person four days a week and virtually once a week. Seventh and eighth grade have virtual learning twice a week. High school students on the hybrid model are virtual three days a week.

Dr. Greene said a majority of COVID-19 cases are popping up in elementary schools, where the hybrid learning is not available. A Jacksonville physician said that suggests the hybrid model is working to stop the spread of the virus.
