JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A family is suing Jacksonville University and a former coach over their daughter’s suicide.
Julia Pernsteiner’s family said she dealt with bullying and discrimination on the cross country team.

The lawsuit claims coach Ron Grigg was cruel to her and dropped her from the team.
It also claims the school didn’t comply with Pernsteiner’s learning disability education plan.

Grigg resigned shortly after JU announced an investigation into him.
JU released the following statement:
“The students, faculty, and staff of Jacksonville University continue to mourn Julia’s tragic death and we sympathize with the Pernsteiner family for their loss. Per University policy, we do not comment on pending litigation.”
