JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department and Florida Forest Service are responding to a brush fire off San Pablo Road just north of Mayo Clinic.
JFRD said no homes are in danger at this time. Motorists are asked to avoid San Pablo between J. Turner Butler and Beach boulevards.
Two firefighters were hospitalized after fighting the fire. JFRD said those firefighters are now out of the hospital and doing okay.
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services said: “The fire was called 100% contained. A full firebreak line was plowed around the fire by two Florida Forest Service tractor plow units. Some smoke will be expected throughout the next few days. Crews will be mopping up for the next few days as well. People should be careful if they are in the area.”

FFS said it is investigating what started the fire, which has approximately 5 acres burning.
FFS two tractor plow units helped to create a line around the fire and its forward progression has stopped.
The fire is about a couple of hundred yards into the wood line and no homes are in danger.
Traffic is an issue....avoid San Pablo Rd between JTB and Beach if possible.
