JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jerry Brown, 22, was killed sitting in his aunt’s driveway on the Northwest side of Jacksonville on January 28, 2016.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office investigated his death as a drive-by shooting, but his family said Brown had no enemies and that this was a case of mistaken identity.

Loved ones describe Brown as a “big teddy bear,” with a voice larger than life.
He aspired to be a gospel singer, but had put college and a scholarship on hold to take care of his mother who was suffering from breast cancer. She would die months later, never knowing who killed her son.
“It was nighttime, someone came up took him. Took him, so it’s an awful mystery we are trying to accept we may never solve,” Chevron Green, Brown’s cousin, said.
Green said she still thinks about Brown and his killer, who is out there everyday.
She said that closure in the case will never bring her cousin back, but it could help prevent another family from facing the same loss.

Today, the Brown family is pleading with the community to come forward with information regarding his death.
