One dead, several injured after crash on Edgewood Avenue, police say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman is dead following a crash on Edgewood Avenue and Raines Vikings Way on Tuesday, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office confirmed. The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department called the crash a multi-casualty incident.

According to JSO, around 5 p.m. a Ford Fusion with three occupants ran through a stop sign on Edgewood Avenue and hit a Nissan Altima with four occupants. The collision caused the Altima to hit a Cadillac Escalade occupied by the driver only.

All of the occupants in each vehicle were taken to the hospital.

The drivers of the Ford Fusion and Cadillac Escalade had life-threatening injuries. The woman, who was a passenger in the Ford Fusion, died from her injuries. Three children were also taken to the hospital. They are expected to recover.

This is the 57th fatality in Duval County this year, JSO says.

Due to the crash, all lanes of Edgewood Avenue West were closed from Floradale Drive South to Carnation Road.
