JSO: Investigation leads to murder arrest

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest for a murder that occurred in Northwest Jacksonville.

Officers responded to the 3100 block of Division street on July 15, 2021, and found a man suffering from possible gunshot wounds. The man was transported to the hospital where he later died.

Both JSO Homicide and Crime Scene Units investigated the shooting death.

It was determined that 20-year-old Deangelo Artis was the suspect. Police obtained an arrest warrant. And Sunday, Artis was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

He was subsequently booked into a pre-trial detention facility on an outstanding warrant for second degree murder and possession of a firearm by a juvenile delinquent.
