Medical Examiner’s Office deemed death of 2-month old baby homicide

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — 26-year-old Jerrontra White has been arrested for 2nd-degree murder in the child’s death.

A police report said White confessed to hurting the child in a police interrogation in Nov. of 2019, at a Motel 6 in Argyle Forest.

Police said a two-month-old baby was in distress before he was brought to the emergency room.

The baby’s mother left him the care of White for a few hours, when she came to pick him up he was moaning and not able to make eye contact.

The report said doctors told her the baby had “brain swelling and a skull fracture.” The child died days later.

Police interviewed White who at first told investigators he didn’t know why the baby was hurt but he did say he was afraid to go to jail, another report says White was frustrated with the child and the baby’s head struck a table

White does a criminal history in Duval county including attempted sexual battery and petit theft charges.

White is also a registered sex predator after he was found guilty in a sex battery case from 2010.
