ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — One year ago, the world flipped upside down due to the coronavirus pandemic. Businesses shut down and millions of people lost their jobs. We had to learn a new way of life to abide by social distancing rules and we added face masks to our daily fashion routine.
Flagler Health+ has seen firsthand how the pandemic has changed the world, especially here in the community.
The hospital made history this time last year as being the first health care system in northeast Florida to treat a patient diagnosed with COVID-19.
Over the past year, the hospital has now treated nearly 600 COVID-19 patients, tested thousands of people and vaccinated more than 1,000 people.
Today, Flagler Health+ recognized the first patient diagnosed with COVID-19 in northeast Florida.
“We felt it was important to commemorate the anniversary of the first COVID-19 case and recognize the incredible achievements that have occurred throughout this unprecedented time,” Flagler Health+ President and CEO Jason Barrett said. “I continue to be awed by the resilience and unwavering commitment that our team has demonstrated through what many consider to be the most challenging time in our immediate history. I could not be more proud of our staff.”
Every staff member at the hospital has been working around the clock to make sure that the community has been safe.
Both clinic and nonclinical staff members at Flagler Health+ will be recognized as being COVID-19 heroes with a commemorative pin.
Flagler Health+ has continued to fight the virus and vaccinate as many people as possible.
