JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A salon with 20 locations just in Jacksonville is now the subject of a federal class action lawsuit.
As Action News Jax told you Wednesday, Hair Cuttery stylists allege they’re not being paid for a week worked prior to the pandemic.
Attorney Mark Natale said new clients keep coming in, many from Jacksonville and the surrounding area.
“This is a lawsuit that strictly goes after people simply being paid for the hours they worked,” Natale said. “It was when the pandemic had started. They had clients who needed them, they needed to work to make money. It was not the safest conditions for them to go out and work.”

Now, attorneys are demanding a jury trial.
Helen Hill is a frequent Hair Cuttery customer.
She saw the Action News Jax coverage, and now she’s trying to help local stylists.
“When the story came on, I said to my husband, ‘I wish there was a way that people could contribute the cost of their haircut, or the cost of a service that they're not spending right now, and give it to the hairdresser directly who is also not earning it right now,” Hill said.
Hill isn’t sure how she’ll gather the money, whether it’s a bank account, GoFundMe page or something else, but she’s hoping the community will step in and help.
“If it could make a little bit of a difference, I would just love to encourage people to do that,” Hill said.
Action News Jax began reaching out to Ratner Companies, which owns Hair Cuttery, prior to our story running Wednesday. We have still not heard back.
