What you need to know about the Jacksonville stimulus relief payment

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — May 1 UPDATE 9 p.m.: Jacksonville stimulus money applications stand at 38,600 as of right now. The City is taking 40,000.

May 1 UPDATE 10:15 a.m.: Action News Jax is aware that the website appears to not be working for many people and the city’s phone line also isn’t available at this time, for some. The city is dealing with a high volume of people which was expected. The city of Jacksonville says to keep trying and to be patient. “If you’re trying to log on, DO NOT refresh your screen. Keep the page open until it loads,” the city said.

Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry announced Duval County residents will be able to apply for the stimulus relief payment by setting up an appointment online at www.jaxrelief.coj.net on Friday, May 1 starting at 10 a.m., when the website is live.

If you qualify for the $1,000 payment, you will receive a confirmation number. Curry stated if you do not have an appointment, you will be turned away.

If a Duval County resident does not have internet access to fill out this application, they are asked to call 904-630-2489 to schedule an appointment on Friday, May 1 at 10 a.m.

Appointments are being scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis and this relief fund is only available to 40,000 households.

Once the first 40,000 appointments are filled the system will not accept any more applicants.

When showing up to your appointment you are asked to bring a mask (one will be provided if you don’t have one), a blue pen, drivers license, documentation that you were employed and you social security number.

To qualify, applicants must be Duval County residents, make $75,000 or less, and have lost 25% or more in income due to COVID-19. Applicants must also prove employment as of Feb. 29.

To prove income, a pay stub, bank statements, or a letter from an employer will have to be provided along with ID and Social Security number.

The money will be put on a card that will have to be picked up in person downtown. According to the city, cards will be ready for pick up starting Monday, May 4.

Distribution of payment cards will be held at the Main Library, located at 303 North Laura Street and the Ed Ball Building, 214 N. Hogan Street. Appointments for distribution will begin on Monday, May 4, 2020 at 9:00 AM. Hours for distribution appointments will be 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM 7 days a week. All applicants will enter the Main Library from the Duval Street/Main Street entrance or enter the Ed Ball Building from the Monroe Street entrance, next to the loading dock

According to the city, citizens can park in the Main Library parking garage for free – the parking garage entrance is located at 33 West Duval Street or you may park in the Ed Ball parking garage for free – the garage entrance is located on Monroe Street.
