JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The father of one of three people killed in an Oceanway hit-and-run said because of the driver, children will now have to grow up without their parents.
Police on Friday released a new description of a car they say fled the scene of an accident that killed 23-year-old Kyle Cassani, 24-year-old Curtis Carlisle and 21-year-old Allison Bushey on March 6.
Police said the silver Ford Fusion hit their BMW and caused it to crash into a tree and burst into flames.
On Friday, Action News Jax spoke with the fathers of two of the victims.
“He pulled up beside the accident, 15 feet from where their bodies lay and left my son in that car with that car on fire and drove away,” John Carlisle, Curtis’s father said. “Didn’t even pick up the phone.”
Curtis Carlisle was a father of two.
“He was a big part of my life,” Carlisle said. “Kyle and Curtis worked with me every day. Of course Allison was at my house every night cause that was Curtis’ girlfriend. They were all good kids.”
Kyle Cassani had a 7-month-old daughter and was engaged to his high school sweetheart.
“There’s been little babies left behind who are going to be missing their parents,” said Greg Cassani, Kyle’s father.
New details released on Friday give us a better idea of where the driver went after the crash.
Witnesses said he ran a light at this intersection at Duval Station Road and North Main Street.
Police said the car then drove west on Max Leggett Parkway and turned right on Airport Road.
The car was last seen at Duval Road heading toward the airport.
“The families are devastated, I’m devastated,” Carlisle said. “I’ve got to watch my grandchildren forget their father.”
