New information: Fernandina Beach police investigating homicide on South 13th Street

FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. — We’re learning more about a homicide investigation on the 400 block of South 13th Street in Fernandina Beach.

Police were called to the home around 9 p.m. Sunday after a report of suspicious activity.

The doors of the home were open and the dogs known to live there were outside.

Police found one person dead inside the home.

Police are not yet releasing the name, age or gender of the victim.

Deputy Chief Jeffrey Tambasco with the Fernandina Beach Police Department said the victim was a visitor to the home and did not live there.

South 13th Street between Elm and Date streets was closed while investigators were there.

It reopened just before 4 p.m. Monday.
