PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating after a pedestrian was hit and killed in East Palatka by a vehicle.
The crash happened Tuesday night in front of the Cheyenne Saloon, a restaurant and bar on U.S. 17.
The owner of Cheyenne Saloon told Action News Jax the victim was a woman who was dancing in the road when she was hit. The victim was not a customer, the owner said.
However, troopers said the woman, 47-year-old Christina Marino, was attempting to cross the street when she was hit by a vehicle. Troopers said she didn't yield to traffic.
The 74-year-old driver of the Nissan Cube received minor injuries. He was taken to the Putnam Community Hospital for treatment.
The driver is not facing charges.
