FHP: Jacksonville woman charged with DUI, careless driving after hitting trooper

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville woman is facing charges after Florida Highway Patrol said she hit one of their patrol cars, causing minor injuries to the trooper.

The crash happened Sunday night on I-95 near Lem Turner Road.

FHP said Sgt. Wilkinson, 38, of Jacksonville was parked in the northbound inside emergency lane of I-95 south --  alerting traffic to a crash in front of him when the woman, driving a Jeep, reportedly failed to stay in her lane and collided with the rear of the patrol car.

The traffic report stated the FHP unit had its emergency lights with a directional arrow illuminated at the time of the crash. It was then pushed into a concrete median barrier.

Shasharon Baker, 37 of Jacksonville, is facing charges of DUI, careless driving and no proof of insurance, according to the traffic report.
