A man was killed Tuesday night in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 301 at County Road 218 in Clay County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash involved a semitruck and a car, FHP said. The semitruck, driven by 33-year-old Ariel Bermudez, of Orlando, was in the left-turn lane on U.S. 301 near CR 218.
The FHP said Bermudez failed to yield to oncoming traffic when he traveled out of the left turn lane in front of a Hyundai Sonata, driven by 20-year-old Dyllon D. Smith, of Orange Park.
Smith's car hit the back of the semi and Smith died at the scene.
The crash is still under investigation, the FHP said.
