DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. — Students and faculty were evacuated Tuesday morning from Ortega Elementary School because of a fire.
The Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department responded to the school.
The fire has been extinguished. It apparently started in the auditorium underneath the stage, JFRD said. No students were there at the time of the incident.
School officials believe the incident was a small electrical fire.
Students were able to go back into the school about an hour later.
The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
