First Alert Weather: More rain as Isaias heads for the Gulf Coast by Friday evening

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — RIGHT NOW: Cloudy with rain increasing including locally heavy showers.

TROPICS: Isaias is over the Central Gulf and now holding steady but should intensify overnight into Friday morning before landfall by early Friday evening near Pensacola/Mobile while weakening some upon approach. Some *fringe* effects for the local area – a few heavy t’storm bands & isolated tornado threat. Always more: “Talking the Tropics With Mike”.

Here’s what the First Alert Weather Team said you can expect for the local forecast:

  • Rain will continue into Thursday evening with some heavier downpours at times then clouds and a few lingering showers overnight.
  • Friday will be warm and humid with on-and-off showers and thunderstorms with some heavy rain at times and a few strong afternoon/early evening storms.
  • Hurricane Isaias will make landfall early Friday evening near Mobile/Pensacola.
  • Significant impacts will be far to the west of the local area, but bands on the east side of Isaias will move across through the area through Saturday with heavy rain, gusty winds, and an isolated tornado risk.
  • By Sunday, skies will become partly sunny with a few lingering showers, possibly a thunderstorm.
  • Much drier weather next week with lower humidity.
