JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Cox Media Group Jacksonville is proud to announce that Ken Jefferson will be joining FOX30 and CBS47 Action News Jax as its new Crime and Safety Expert.
Jefferson has served the Jacksonville community as an officer in leadership roles with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office from 1986 to 2010 as an Administrative Detective in the Inspections and Accreditation Unit, Academy Instructor, Field Training Officer, Burglary Detective, Sex Crimes Detective, and Police Recruiter. He was a Federal Program Coordinator in charge of the Drug Education for Youth (DEFY) Program, and for five years, served as JSO's Public Information Officer.

"His vast knowledge and experience in crime prevention and personal safety will provide unique insight for our viewers that they can't get from any other local TV station."
As a motivational speaker, Jefferson has attended local, regional and national conferences addressing issues of safety for children and senior citizens. He was also honored with a lifesaving award after he rescued three young girls from a car that had been submerged in a deep retention pond following an accident.

Ken Jefferson will begin his duties at Action News Jax on Oct. 7.
