JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — This week health inspectors shut down two restaurants. One was closed for a pest control issue and the other was closed for a temperature issue with food.
When checking Napolis Pizza Cuisine on Arlington Road, a health inspector said there were too many live roaches and too many dead roaches to count. The inspector also issued a stop sale on lettuce, tomato, ham and turkey. During two follow-up inspections there were still pest control issues. On the third follow-up inspection, Napolis Pizza was allowed to reopen for business.
At Jaxmint on Baymeadows Road, a health inspector issued a stop sale on all food inside a cooler, saw raw chicken above uncooked produce and an inadequate number of food storage units. It was temporarily shut down but reopened for business during a follow-up inspection.
An inspector at Hooters of Jacksonville’s Southside saw live flies under a prep table, the dish machine wasn’t sanitizing properly and they found a black mold-like substance in the ice machine. Hooters met inspection requirements because everything was corrected on site.
