Jacksonville's first medical marijuana facility opens its doors

Trulieve opened up its first medical marijuana dispensary in Jacksonville on Wednesday.

The Beach Blvd. facility is the first of its kind in Jacksonville — and the eighth in Florida.

The company will deliver medical marijuana to patients needing both low and high level THC products. They will be sold in capsules, vapor and extracts.

In June, Florida Gov. Rick Scott signed the state’s new medical marijuana law for patients that suffer from 10 qualifying conditions.

The smoking of medical marijuana is banned. This has prompted a lawsuit by Florida attorney John Morgan.

Earlier this month, Florida attorney John Morgan sued the state because of the limited use of the drug.

“The people that we lay out to very specifically in the bill, are the people who have things like ALS, AIDS, cancer, multiple sclerosis, it goes on and on and on,” Morgan said.
