Jax Beach returns all-day dog access for the month of October

All-day beach access for dogs has returned

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — All-day beach access for dogs has returned for the month of October at Jax Beach, removing previous time-of-day restrictions. Pet owners are required to follow regulations under City Ordinance 5-41, which carries a $55 fine for violations.

Under the regulations, dogs must remain on a leash eight feet or shorter while on the beach at all times. Pet owners must also have proof of a valid rabies vaccination and are required to pick up and dispose of all pet waste.

Dogs are prohibited in the dunes at all times.

Dogs are permitted to swim off-leash in the Atlantic Ocean as long as they stay within their owner’s voice and visual control.

Pet owners must leash their dogs immediately upon exiting the water and before returning to the beach area. The off-leash allowance applies only to swimming and does not permit walking dogs in the water or playing fetch.
