JAXPORT welcomes largest container ship ever to call Jacksonville

The largest containership to call Jacksonville, One Stork, is almost three and half football fields long.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — JAXPORT is inviting the public to celebrate the arrival of One Stork, the largest containership ever to call Jacksonville.

The magenta-colored vessel is 364 meters (1194 feet) in length. That’s almost three and a half football fields! It can carry 14,000 containers. This is compared to other large ships to call JAXPORT which topped out at a capacity of 11,923 containers.

The recently completed 47-foot harbor deepening project provides enough water depth to accommodate the vessel.

Aside from the large numbers, the public will be able to watch the ship’s arrival. JAXPORT has created a map showing all the public areas along the St. Johns River to see the ship as it makes its way toward the port’s Blount Island Marine Terminal.
