JCA staffers giving back at Jacksonville’s River Garden Senior Services during COVID-19

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jewish Community Alliance (JCA) employees, who typically fill various positions at the JCA community center, are now assisting River Garden Senior Services.

  • About 40 JCA staffers are conducting screenings for people entering River Garden nursing home, while another 15 staffers shop for people living in ‘The Coves,’ River Garden’s independent living facility.
  • Earlier this month, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced a suspension of nursing home and assisted living facility visits across the state.
  • River Garden has implemented the following screening measures for anyone seeking to gain entry to campus:
  • "At our guardhouse you and everyone in your party will be screened for:
    • Travel or close contact with someone who has traveled internationally or on a cruise ship over the last14 days;
    • Fever of 100 degrees or higher;
    • Any obvious signs of respiratory illness such as a cough, runny nose, sneezing or shortness of breath;
    • Has had contact with someone with or under investigation for COVID-19″
  • "Our security guards will take forehead temperature(s) and will ask these specific questions:
    • Have you been on a cruise in the past 14 days?
    • Have you travelled internationally in the past 14 days?
    • Have you had contact with someone with or under investigation for COVID-19?
    • Are you feeling ill or sick today?"
  • “If you or anyone in your vehicle tests positive for any of the above conditions your vehicle and everyone in it will be denied entry to the campus.”
  • Once on the campus we ask that you and everyone in your party sanitize your hands and sign-in to one of the guestbooks located at the River Garden Reception Desk or The Coves Reception Desk.
