JEA crews deploy to Alabama to assist with Hurricane Isaias recovery

JEA electric and vegetation crews deployed to Alabama on Saturday morning to assist with recovery efforts

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — JEA electric and vegetation crews deployed to Alabama on Saturday morning to assist with recovery efforts following Hurricane Isaias. The Category two hurricane made landfall near Destin on Oct. 9, leaving more than 670,000 households without power across the Panhandle region.

The utility sent 55 total personnel to assist with relief operations across several Alabama communities. A team of 40 electric crew members is working to restore power in the cities of Dothan and Evergreen, while 15 tree-trimming crew members were assigned to Demopolis to clear fallen trees and storm debris from affected areas.

JEA Interim Managing Director and CEO Jody Brooks highlighted the importance of mutual aid partnerships between regional utilities during severe weather events.

“When Northeast Florida is hit by major storms, our fellow utilities are always here to help us,” Brooks said. “When we get a request for assistance, JEA is always happy to do what we can to help our neighboring communities get back up and running.”
