JSO corrections officer arrested on sexual battery charges

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced an arrest of one of their own in a news conference Tuesday.

According to JSO, Corrections Officer Nathan B. McClough, 25, was arrested Monday night and faces two sexual battery charges and a charge of battery.

In early September, police said the suspect attended a small party where his first victim became incapacitated with alcohol and went inside a bedroom to sleep. JSO said McClough entered the bedroom and forced sexual activity on the victim.

McClough attempted to force himself on another victim in another bedroom at the same party and the victim was able to fight him off, officials said.

Authorities said McClough is no longer an employee of JSO, following his resignation.

"This isn’t a good day, regardless if he’s an employee or not, these type of allegations are very serious and we’ll do what we can to support the victims, Ivey said.

McClough was a corrections officer for three years, hired in February of 2015, JSO said.

He is being held on a $325,000 bond. His next court appearance is Oct 24.

This is the sixth arrest of a JSO employee in 2018, JSO said. Jso reported 10 employee arrests overall in 2017.
