JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The family of slain cab driver Stuart Carson got to face the man accused of shooting Carson to death. Rohbanni Wilson made his first court appearance Thursday.
The judge denied him bond. U.S. marshals arrested Wilson on Wednesday and handed him over to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
"Even though we have charged the suspect with one count of murder, the investigation is continuing. It's active, we are still getting more information in reference to the case," said JSO Chief of Investigations Adam Brown.
Stuart Carson's wife and sister got emotional as they described seeing his alleged killer, Wilson.
"It was just overwhelming in that moment that was the last face my brother sees," said Carson's sister Lori Gilkinson.
"As soon as I walked in, he looked right at me and I gave him a dirty look," said Carson's wife Kelly Redington.
The 43-year-old cab driver and father of four was robbed and shot to death after dropping off a cab fare on the Northside on June 7.
The U.S. Marshal's Office captured 23-year-old Wilson at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Carson's wife said she wants a severe punishment.
"There's a lot of bad things that I hope for him, but I just hope he spends the rest of his life in jail," said Redington.
Wilson's brother Paul Hamilton told Action news he never imagined his brother could be involved.
"Ain't nobody win, nobody wins. How do we win, we're going to see him through a glass?" Hamilton said.
Action News has learned that Wilson is a registered sex offender with a criminal history dating back to 2010 when he was charged with lewd or lascivious battery on a minor, petit theft, failure to comply with sexual offender requirements and violation of probation.
Wilson will be back in court July 10.
