LAKE CITY, Fla. — A 19-year-old Lake City man was arrested and charged in the death of his girlfriend Thursday morning in Columbia County, marking the area’s second homicide investigation in less than 12 hours.
According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Isaiah Devon Campbell called 911 around 4 a.m. saying that his girlfriend had fallen and hit her head. She wasn’t breathing.
When investigators arrived at 3881 NW Moore Road, they said Nicole Xenia Lopez’s body was already cold to the touch. They said the 21-year-old woman had been beaten and stabbed.

Campbell was arrested at the scene and charged with murder. He is currently being held in jail without bond.
The incident marked the second homicide investigation in Columbia County within a 24-hour period. Authorities were already investigating the death of a teenager that occurred at approximately 4:00 p.m. Wednesday.
Ashia Moore, 16, was shot and killed. Her 17-year-old boyfriend, Dominique Santonio Hill, was arrested. He’s being held on evidence tampering charges as deputies continue their investigation. Moore was 7 months pregnant, and according to a family friend, Hill was the father of her unborn child.
