JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Lutheran Social Services of Northeast Florida (LSSNEFL) is taking a stand against summer childhood hunger with the launch of its new fundraising campaign, “Feed the Future: A Summer Without Hunger.”
The leading nonprofit organization aims to raise $10,000 to ensure that children in the community have access to nutritious meals during the summer break when school-provided meals are not available.
The campaign focuses on addressing the increased food insecurity faced by children who rely on free or reduced-price meals during the school year.
Without these meals, many children face hunger and a lack of proper nutrition during the summer months. The funds raised through the campaign will directly support the LSS Food Pantry, which opens its doors five days a week to assist local households in need.

Highlighting the urgency of the situation, LSSNEFL President and CEO Bill Brim shared that the food pantry has already experienced a 30% increase in usage compared to last year, with over 100 families being served daily and sometimes even more.
Unfortunately, food donations have decreased by 25% from last year, creating a critical gap between the growing demand and available resources.
Brim emphasized the importance of combating childhood hunger, stating, “We believe that no child should have to go hungry, and no parent should have to skip meals to feed their children. Through our ‘Feed the Future’ campaign, we are committed to ensuring that families in our community have access to the nutrition they need to thrive.”
LSSNEFL is calling on the support of the community, local businesses, and philanthropic organizations to join hands in making a lasting impact on childhood hunger.
Contributions to the campaign can be made through the organization’s website at lssjax.org/feedthefuture. Donors have the option to make one-time donations or set up recurring monthly contributions to support ongoing efforts throughout the summer.
