JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A judge sentenced a man to life in prison for the murder of a local pastor.
Terrence Rashad Wright pleaded guilty to the first-degree murder and armed robbery of 76-year-old John Henry Bowser.
Police found Bowser dead in the kitchen of his home in April 2013.
Wright turned himself in to police, claiming he hurt someone and took their car.
Soon after, police found Bowser's body.
Bowser founded the Glorious Church of the Lord in downtown Jacksonville.
Police said Bowser worked to help Wright get back on his feet following his release from prison.
Investigators said Wright went to Bowser's home to get money to buy drugs. When Bowser refused, police said Wright beat him to death with a hammer, and stole his money and his car.
