Jacksonville police: Divorced couple believe to have stabbed each other

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — One man is dead and a woman is injured after a stabbing at a house in the Herlong neighborhood in Jacksonville.

Jacksonville police responded around 1:30 a.m. to a domestic call early Tuesday morning in the 8600 block of Springtree Road. .

The man, who is believed to be in his 30s, and the woman, who is believed to be in her 40s, are divorced, Jacksonville police said. Police have not released the man's or woman's identity, but said they both lived in the home.

Both the man and woman had multiple stab wounds. The woman reportedly ran to a neighbor's home to call for help, police said.

The man died at UF Health Jacksonville. The woman was taken to Orange Park Medical Center where she is in critical condition, and is expected to survive.

Jacksonville police said it's early in the investigation, however it appears that they stabbed each other after an unknown domestic issues. Investigators said a knife was recovered.

The rain washed away some of the blood evidence outside of the home, and the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is working to preserve it. Police are also investigating a scene inside the home.
