Man wanted across multiple states accused of using aliases, fraudulent checks to obtain goods: NCSO

58-year-old David Gene Ford

NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. — A man was arrested for grand theft after allegedly using fraudulent checks to get goods while operating under false names in multiple jurisdictions across the country, says the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office.

According to NCSO, the investigation began in December 2025 after a victim reported selling personal belongings to 58-year-old David Gene Ford through Facebook Marketplace. The victim was selling four high-end RC cars for $2500. The check Ford provided was declined. When the victim tried to contact Ford, the phone number was disconnected.

NCSO investigators used information from the check to identify a separate case in Knoxville, Tennessee. In this case, the suspect used the alias Thor Chevy Haraldsson.

The investigation also discovered that Ford was wanted in multiple jurisdictions across the country, including Tennessee, Colorado, and Washington. Investigators determined Ford used fraudulent checks to obtain goods while operating under false names or aliases in each case.

Multiple Facebook posts on different community pages also warned the public about Ford and his fraudulent activities. Ford was booked into the Nassau County Jail and Detention Center on August 14. He is being held on $90,000 bond.
