JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Panic filled the streets of 25th West Street in Grand Park as neighbors heard an unsettling sound.
“[I’m] kind of shaken up right about now,” neighbor Lashay Hampton said.
Hampton lives one block from the site of the crash.
“I just heard a big kaboom sound that came. My daughter, she ran out of the door,” Hampton said.
Only a few neighbors saw it like Curtis Lyghts.
“I saw a car speeding by it went down that way and the next thing I know it hit the house,” Lyghts said.
He also said it looked like the car was going 50-60 mph.
JFRD reported three people were hurt after a car crashed into the corner of a house Saturday afternoon.
It demolished the corner of the wall. Dozens of bricks crumbled on top of the car and there were visible cracks in the foundation up to the roof.
In the front lawn and next door, you can see the tire marks, knocking down a tree in the car’s path.
Hampton said when she heard the boom, she was terrified a kid had been hurt.
When she drove to the house, she said she couldn’t believe what she saw.
“I saw a lady, she was on the ground, you know,” Hampton said.
The homeowners said a woman was sitting outside and another man was inside the den during the crash.
Neighbors said a lot of kids live on the street and cars speed up and down it every day.
“My eyes were just so amazed. My mind was just everywhere… I don’t know it could have been a child,” Hampton said.
Neighbors said they believe the driver and passenger got into an argument which led to the crash.
We’re working to confirm those details and learn more about the driver of the car.
