No bond for man accused in 2012 Christmas eve murder

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — After nearly six years of investigating, an accused murderer is off the streets.

25-year-old Codeon Chambers made his first appearance in court for a crime he allegedly committed when he was around 19-years-old. Tuesday, a judge said he will be held without bond for a capital murder charge.

Chambers is the second suspect accused of murdering Harold Woodard III on Christmas Eve in 2012 at a Westside apartment complex where Parker Roundtree now calls home.
"To put it bluntly, its more violent people off the streets-- it makes people safer," Roundtree said.

George Williams IV is already serving a life sentence for the same murder.

JSO tells Action News Jax Chambers was never arrested until Monday in this case when newly discovered evidence from the FDLE this year proved Chambers was also at Woodard’s home.

Action News Jax found five total arrests in JSO’s records for Chambers. Jail logs show three of the arrests happened after Woodard’s murder, including drugs and weapons charges.

Woodard’s relatives did not return our calls today for comment.
