Woman dies following A1A head-on collision in Nassau County, troopers say

10:15 a.m. Update: A 47-year-old woman of Fernandina Beach is dead following a crash on State Road A1A, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said a grey Dodge Journey driven by Nathan Doss, 36, of Jacksonville was driving northbound on State Road A1A, while the woman, the driver of a Mazda 6 was traveling southbound on the same road.

For reasons unknown, FHP said Doss’ vehicle crossed the dividing lane and traveled into the woman’s path, hitting her car head-on.

Doss was taken to UF Health with serious injuries, according to the traffic report.

Florida Highway Patrol says there is a fatal crash involving two cars in Nassau County at First Coast Highway/ SR-A1A.

Troopers say this crash is north of the Nassau Sound Bridge.

One person has been pronounced deceased at the scene.

Another person was taken to the hospital.

All lanes are currently blocked.

First Alert Traffic anchor Derrick Odom says to take I-95 as alternate route.
