One dead and one injured after passenger ejected from car during a crash in St. Johns County

ST. JOHNS, Fla — Reports from the Florida Highway Patrol Office state that Sunday at approximately 3 a.m. on I-95, just north of county road 210, a Jeep was traveling southbound in the left lane. For reasons unconfirmed, the driver lost control and exited the roadway to the left.

As a result, the front left of the Jeep collided with the guardrail. The momentum from the crash caused the car to rotate counter-clockwise and overturn onto the guardrail, located in the center median. The Jeep then came to a final rest facing east.

During the Jeeps overturning, the front right passenger was ejected and came to a rest in the left lane of I-95 northbound.

Reports then say a Lexus that was traveling northbound on I-95 in the left lane ran over the passenger of the Jeep who had been ejected, resulting in the passenger’s death.

The Florida Highway Patrol has not identified anyone involved at this time.
