In a recent notification and social media post, the department said that utilizing the app is an important tool in helping to fight crime in the community and allows residents to report a crime, receive emergency alerts and more.

The mission statement from SaferWatch touts the app as, “a way to prevent acts of violence by bridging the communication gap between citizens who have information and first responders who need information. Our technology makes it easy to connect and we have modernized the way people report incidents and tips to 911 centers, law enforcement and other public safety agencies.”

The SaferWatch app offers an 8-to-1 emergency alert system that’s built to be accessible during emergencies:

  • Tip reporting
  • Threat reporting and assessment
  • Drill tracking and incident management
  • Mass notification system
  • Reunification and safety check-in
