A new date is pending for the completion of the Coastline Drive and Liberty Street Bridge replacement project.
It’s the third time contractors are pushing back the project completion date.
Brooks Anne Meierdierks says she owns a loft right across the street from the Coastline Drive and Liberty Street.

“I mean, that’s about all you see is a lot of construction and it’ll be really nice when they finish it, but it’s taking forever for them to finish it,” said Meierdierks.
Superior Construction, the contractor in charge of the project, for the second time is getting more money and time to complete it.
Originally, city officials told Action News Jax they expected to finish the project in July of 2018 but the date was pushed back to February 2019, and then it was pushed back to May.
Now, a third change order has been requested and while the official date has not been confirmed, the public works department says the project may not be completed until January 2020.

In 2015, a part of Liberty Street collapsed, leading to road closures in the area.
The city developed a plan to demolish those roads and the parking lot.
The contractor was awarded $24.7 million in 2016 and requested another $1 million saying they needed to repair the existing bulkhead, which included replacing benches and light poles.
The company will now get an additional nearly $200,000 to complete the project, bringing the total cost of the project to $25.9 million.
People like Meierdierks seem skeptical that the work will even be completed by next January.
“No it doesn’t look like it’ll be done soon … and the docks are all torn up so they have to fix that as well as what they’re trying to complete in the first place,” she said.
City officials say the recent implosion of the City Hall Annex is another factor that is delaying the project.
