Police arrest man accused of kidnapping, sexual battery of juvenile in October

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has arrested a suspect in a kidnapping and sexual battery of a juvenile in October of 2017.

Eric Felton Jr., 49, is charged with kidnapping a young girl and sexual assault and is being held on more than $200,000 bond.

Police said the kidnapping happened around 4 p.m. on Oct. 11. The girl was walking near the 2100 block of West 45th Street when the suspect approached in a four-door, dark blue, sedan-style vehicle.

According to police, when the suspect neared the victim, he threw a cellphone out of the car window. When he got out of the car, the suspect forced the victim inside the car and drove her to an unknown location in the downtown area, possibly near Florida State College at Jacksonville, and assaulted her. He later released her.

Felton's next court date is set for March 28.
