JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Police said they arrested a 32-year-old man for gunning down another man near a convenience store on Broward Road on Friday night.
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said Keith Bernard Carter, Jr. is being held in Duval County Jail on second-degree murder charges for the shooting death near Interstate Center Dr.
When police arrived in the early evening, they found the victim lying on the ground, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.’
On Saturday, detectives arrested Carter for the murder and for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Duval County Court records show a previous conviction of Carter for attempted murder in 2014. A charge of battery in a detention facility in 2015 was dropped.
