On Friday police asked the community to shelter in place, while they searched for a Wells Fargo bank robbery suspect in Atlantic Beach. The suspect never displayed a weapon.
Authorities said the suspect left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money. He was last seen running north on Aquatic Drive near the Sunrise Community Church.
The suspect is described as a 40 to 60 year old black male, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall. He was wearing blue jeans, a dark colored t-shirt and a tan ball cap. Police said the suspect took off the orange vest that had "Miller Electric Company" printed on the back. Police have recovered the vest.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office's K9 and air unit assisted with the Atlantic Beach Police Department in the search for the suspect.
