Woman’s body found floating in Nassau river in suspicious death

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is conducting a homicide investigation after finding a body floating in a river on 17000 North Main St.

At around 10:30 a.m., the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office was notified after a fisherman discovered a body floating in the Nassau river.

Nassau river Marine unit responded and recovered the body of a woman, in the age range has been stated between 20 to 40 years old. The body has not yet been identified.

JSO was contacted later after a vehicle possibly associated with this female was located in the parking lot of 17847 north Main Street. The inside of the vehicle has not yet been checked.

JSO is working with the medical examiner’s office for the cause of death and to identify the victim.

Officers are not sure how long the body had been in the water and have labeled the death as suspicious due to trauma on the body.

This is an ongoing investigation and will be updated when new details are released.
