COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — Police said visitors to Ichetucknee Springs found the body of a man later identified as a 75-year-old park “regular” floating lifeless in the water.
While traveling down the springs, a couple saw a float stuck in the middle of the water with a body hanging on by one arm. One of them went to the float, dragged out the lifeless body and called police.
Police identified the man as Dennis John Faust. A news release from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said park attendants recognized him as a frequent visitor.
Alachua County Sheriff’s Office has notified the man’s family. The medical examiner is working on a final determination of the cause of the man’s death, police said.
